A woman in Houston will face criminal charges after she drove an SUV into a post office, injuring five people.

According to officials with the Houston Police Department, the accident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. at a post office in the 3000 block of W. Fuqua near Almeda. Police say tire tracks could be seen heading from the parking lot, across the sidewalk, through the lawn, and into the building. Authorities believe the vehicle jumped the curb, collided with a group of newspaper dispensers, and crashed through a large window to the right of the front entrance.

“We was standing in line, and we just heard a big ‘boosh!’ And we all just tried to get to where we could get to,” witness Randy Johnson said.

Two office workers and three customers were injured in the crash. Two victims were transported to Ben Taub Hospital for treatment. The other three were treated at the scene.

The 64 year-old female driver of the SUV was not injured in the crash, police say. Police continue to investigate the cause of the crash, but say the woman will face serious criminal charges and fines.

A man from Milam County and his daughter are facing felony charges after being arrested Monday.

According to officials at the Texas Comptroller’s Office, Don H. Roddam was arrested with his daughter, 50 year-old Sandi Roddam Richter, for felony motor fuel tax fraud.

The father-daughter team was indicted by a Travis County grand jury, following an investigation by the Texas Comptroller’s Office into the Cam-Rock Oil company, a motor fuel distribution company. The indictments contend that Roddam, Richter and the Cam-Rock Oil Company intentionally did not remit motor fuels taxes they collected on fuel sales. Richter faces two additional charges of falsifying fuel tax reports and failing to retain documents as required by law.

The cases are being prosecuted by the Motor Fuels Tax Fraud Division, a state-funded unit of the Travis County District Attorney’s Office.

All charges against Roddam and Richter are second-degree felonies. If convicted, both could face up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $10,000.

The family of a young woman killed by a Fort Worth police officer in an alleged DUI crash is suing one of the bars he drank in that night.

The family of 27 year-old Sonia Baker is suing the Pour House on West 7th Street in Fort Worth. The lawsuit alleges that Fort Worth narcotics officer Jesus Cisneros was served alcohol at the bar until he was dangerously drunk. Cisneros left the bar and was involved in the crash with Baker.

Attorney for Baker’s family, Jeff Rasansky, said there is evidence to back up the claims of the lawsuit. “We understand that there are video tapes that we have not seen, that establish the fact that he had four beers and four hard liquor shots. Obviously he was intoxicated.” said Rasansky.
